Westcott Rapid Box Switch Octa-S Softbox (No Insert)

The Westcott Rapid Box Switch Octa-S is a compact, fast-setting octagonal softbox designed to make professional lighting quick, simple, and flexible. With a 66cm diameter, it is an excellent choice for portraits and people photography, producing soft, flattering light and natural-looking round catchlights. Built around Westcott’s clever Switch system, it allows you to pair the softbox with a wide range of lights using interchangeable inserts (sold separately), making it a highly adaptable option for both studio and location work.

The Perfect Softbox For

• Photographers who want flexibility to use different lighting systems.

• Switch system supports a wide range of interchangeable inserts (sold separately).
• Compatible with Bowens, Elinchrom, Profoto, Broncolor, speedlights and more (with correct insert).
• Quick-release thumb-lock securely holds the Switch Insert in place.

Designed to Switch With You

The Rapid Box Switch system is built around flexibility. Rather than relying on a fixed speed ring, the Octa-S uses interchangeable Switch Inserts (sold separately), allowing you to adapt the same softbox to different speedlights or strobes as your kit evolves. Simply choose the insert that matches your light, whether that’s Bowens, Elinchrom, Profoto, Broncolor, or speedlights, and swap them in seconds as needed.

Fast Setup, Built for Real-World Use

Thanks to its aluminium, umbrella-inspired frame, the Rapid Box Switch Octa-S opens and closes in seconds without the need for loose rods. This keeps weight down while improving durability. Your light mounts outside the softbox, giving you easy access to controls and making it ideal for both line-of-sight and wireless triggering. When you are finished, it collapses quickly into the included carry case for easy transport and storage.

Premium, Colour-Neutral Diffusion

Westcott’s diffusion panels are made from unbleached, all-natural nylon fabric. Unlike heavily processed materials, this fabric softens the light without introducing colour shifts, helping you maintain consistent and accurate colour temperature across your images.

What’s Included

• Rapid Box Switch Octa-S Softbox (66 cm)
• Carry case

Important Note

This version does not include a Switch Insert. A compatible insert is required to mount the softbox to your light and must be purchased separately.

TFC’s Verdict

If you already own a Switch Insert or plan to use multiple lighting systems, this version gives you maximum flexibility. The build quality, speed of setup, and quality of light are excellent, and the ability to adapt it to different lights makes it a smart long-term choice.
