Speed and Performance

The FJ400 II is designed for photographers who cannot afford to wait on their lighting. Its class-leading recycle times ensure the strobe is ready almost instantly, making it ideal for action, sports, and dynamic portrait sessions. Freeze Sync, High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000s, and front and rear curtain sync give you the flexibility to capture sharp images in a wide range of conditions.

Flexible Power for Studio and Location

The included FJ Pro AC/DC battery delivers over 550 full-power flashes and thousands at lower power settings, with a charge time of around 1.5 hours. The battery is interchangeable with the FJ800, reducing the need for multiple power solutions. AC trickle charging allows the strobe to keep working during long sessions, and an optional higher-capacity FJ ProMax battery can deliver up to 1,000 full-power flashes.

Consistent Colour and Modelling Light

Colour accuracy is maintained across the entire output range, with 5500K consistency within ±150K. The built-in 30W bi-colour LED modelling light can be adjusted from warm to cool tones, making it easier to preview lighting, frame your shot, and fine-tune your setup.

Intuitive Touchscreen Control

The full-colour OLED touchscreen is designed to be quick and easy to use, with simple tap, swipe, and slide gestures. On-screen help guides reduce setup time and keep you focused on shooting rather than navigating menus.

Creative Mask and Wireless Integration

Creative Mask allows you to capture up to six different lighting looks from a single setup by controlling when each strobe fires. This is particularly useful for volume photography or fast-paced environments. The FJ400 II integrates seamlessly with Westcott’s 2.4 GHz FJ wireless system and can be controlled using FJ triggers, compatible speedlights, or the free StudioLink app.

Light Modifier Compatibility

A round flash head and extended flash tube provide a wide, even light spread that fills modifiers smoothly. The Bowens mount and included Rapid Box Switch Insert ensure compatibility with a wide range of Westcott light modifiers, while the tilting bracket includes a 9 mm umbrella mount for added flexibility.

The FJ400 II is a brilliant option for photographers who want serious performance without the bulk of a traditional studio strobe. It solves the common problem of balancing power, speed, and portability, making it equally at home on location or in the studio. With fast recycling, dependable colour, and clever features like Creative Mask, it is especially well suited to action, portrait, and commercial shooters who need reliable results and efficient workflows. If you are invested in, or considering, the Westcott FJ system, the FJ400 II is a very smart long-term addition.
