Negative Supply Scanning Light Source Pro 4x5 (99 CRI)

The Negative Supply 4x5 Light Source Pro (99 CRI) is a high-performance light source designed for photographers who demand exceptional colour accuracy and consistency when scanning film. As the successor to the 5x7 Light Source Pro, it delivers comparable brightness in a more compact and efficient design, while improving light uniformity and overall build quality.

System Compatibility Notes

This light source is designed to work within the Negative Supply ecosystem and is compatible with a wide range of film carriers and accessories, including the Pro Mount MK2, Light Source Mini accessories, and 4x5 Light Source Basic accessories. When used with the Pro Mount MK2, the mount sits above the light surface rather than on its corners, which requires the use of extended feet for correct positioning. It is suitable for scanning 35mm, 120, and 4x5 film. For 4x5 scanning, we recommend using a 90mm or longer full-frame equivalent macro lens to ensure the correct angle of view and prevent light falloff at the edges of the frame.

Why We Like It

This is the light source for users who want the best possible colour accuracy. The 99 CRI version delivers near-perfect colour rendering, making it ideal for critical work such as archival scanning or colour-sensitive projects. Despite being slightly less bright than the 97 CRI version, the trade-off is worth it for those who prioritise accuracy above all else. The improved build and more compact footprint also make it easier to integrate into a professional workflow.

David T. ★★★★★

The color accuracy on my scans is finally where I want it—files come out clean without any weird magenta casts, even on dense negatives. It’s pricey, but the evenness across the 4x5 area makes culling a breeze.

Jason ★★★★★

I was blown away by how evenly the 99 CRI light source illuminates my 4x5 negatives—no hot spots or color shifts at all during scanning. The build feels solid and professional, and it’s made digitizing my medium format film noticeably faster.

Emma M. ★★★★★

The 4x5 size fits my medium format negatives perfectly, and the even illumination across the entire surface is flawless. I’ve noticed a real difference in my scans—colors are more accurate and require much less correction in post.
