CineStill Xpro C-41 800T Tungsten Colour Negative 120 Roll Film

Motion picture film for still photographers!

CineStill 800Tungsten is a one-of-a-kind colour film designed for still photographers. This 800 ISO tungsten-balanced colour negative film is based on the same high-quality motion picture technology used by leading cinematographers worldwide. It’s perfect for challenging low light, tungsten-lit scenes, but is flexible enough to work in various lighting conditions, giving you plenty of creative options.

Our improved manufacturing process now extends the shelf life of 800T, with fewer noticeable artifacts after the film has expired. This advanced motion picture emulsion is ideal for a hybrid workflow, especially for scanning, and can be safely processed in standard C-41 lab machines or with Cs41 processing at home. You can also process it in Cs2 chemistry to create low-contrast motion picture negatives. When processed in C-41 chemistry, it produces a contrast curve suited for optical printing on RA-4 paper. Treat this as a high-speed 800 ISO film for C-41 processing, and feel free to push it up to 3200 ISO if needed!

Key Features:

  • Colour negative motion picture emulsion
  • 120 medium format
  • Safe for C-41 photo lab processing (no Remjet backing)
  • Acetate base
  • Creates a slight halation effect
  • Tungsten balanced for low light, tungsten-lit scenes
  • Can be push processed up to 3200 ISO
  • Factory spooled

Recommended exposure for push processing:

  • No push - EI 200-1000
  • 1 stop push - EI 800-2000
  • 2 stop push - EI 1250-3200
  • 3 stop push - EI 1600-3200 (with added contrast)

Expiration:

The new boxed CineStill film has a longer shelf life, with fewer noticeable artifacts after expiration. However, for best results, store the film in a fridge and use it within 6 months of purchase. Exposed film should be processed promptly in C-41 chemistry to maintain colour fidelity and latent image latitude. All current productions of CineStill have a two-year expiration date printed on the box. If you have older productions of 800T (unboxed) or film without an expiration date, it may already be age fogged.

Note:

This emulsion was originally designed for ECN-2 motion picture processing, and it can still be processed using those steps or with the CineStill Cs2 "Cine Simplified" kit, which results in a low-contrast negative not suitable for darkroom printing. Although there’s no Remjet layer to affect the chemicals, C-41 processing produces better density and gamma for still photography. Tests have shown that C-41 processing yields favourable results compared to ECN-2 processing by professional labs. Long-term archival stability has not been tested beyond 9 years, but expectations should fall somewhere between Kodachrome and most C-41 films. We offer a replacement for any defective rolls but do not accept liability beyond this.

Storage and handling:

Load and unload the film in low light. Store unexposed film in a refrigerator at 13°C or lower, keeping it in its original packaging. To prevent moisture condensation, allow refrigerated film to return to room temperature before opening. Process the film as soon as possible after exposure. Protect processed film from strong light and store it in a cool, dry place.

Adam E. ★★★★★

The 120 format gives me beautiful, fine-grained scans, and the tungsten balance handles mixed indoor lighting without that awful green cast. Perfect for concert photography or night scenes.

Claire H. ★★★★★

I’ve been shooting with this 120 roll in dim bars and the tungsten balance really cuts the orange cast—colors look natural without any filter. The fine grain surprised me for an 800 speed film; it holds detail even in shadows. Definitely my go-to for night street photography now.

Charlotte ★★★★☆

The 800 speed is perfect for low-light shots, and the tungsten balance really nails that moody indoor look without a filter. Skin tones feel a bit warm in mixed lighting, but it's a small trade-off for the versatility.
